Maximizes Impact
Dear Reader,
Across the region, Chicago’s most prominent public, corporate, nonprofit, and philanthropic leaders come together through Civic Consulting Alliance to get big things done. This year’s report reflects the projects that are transforming the region to help us recover from the pandemic and build a more equitable and resilient region that can handle the challenges of the future.
This work is made possible by generous philanthropic contributions of many stakeholders. The Board continues to be strongly committed to the organization and provides support in numerous ways. I am pleased to report that 100% of our Board personally invests in our mission, and many give a tremendous amount of time and energy to support committee work and pro bono projects through their companies.
These investments made in Civic Consulting Alliance are amplified by our network of pro bono partners, and this year each dollar invested in staff was multiplied sixfold to provide $30 million in pro bono services to support the Chicago region.
I am grateful for and inspired by all of our Board and Advisory Council members, staff, clients, and pro bono and philanthropic partners, with whom we collaborate every day to make the Chicago region a great place for everyone to live in and work.

In 2023, we experienced the immense loss of two Civic Consulting Alliance Board members who made significant contributions to our mission and in the Chicago region.
Michael C. Evangelides
Partner, Deloitte
Michael joined our Board in 2016. He was highly engaged in our mission and helped us to continue to grow our strong partnership with Deloitte, and served on two internal committees that strengthened our work. Michael was also personally involved in many pro bono projects for our clients, including support for the State's Attorney, Chicago Public Schools COVID-19 contact tracing strategies, and the Mayor's Office workforce development initiatives in support of economic recovery from the pandemic. We will remember Michael for his dedication and many contributions to the health and vitality of our region.
Laurence Msall
President, Civic Federation
Laurence joined our Board in 2005, and was a trusted advisor throughout his tenure. We could always count on him to share important insights and ask tough questions. Among his many contributions, Laurence participated on steering committees for projects like TIF reform and the Mayor’s 21st Century Steering Committee, which recommended long-term solutions to ensure that the City’s government structure would enable Chicago to provide efficient, effective and relevant services – a theme that was prevalent throughout his career. We will deeply miss his passion, brilliance, and humor that he brought to his work.
